The new PowerRay underwater drone from PowerVision can dive to 98 feet, take live high-quality video and be equipped with sonar technology

Las Vegas - The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) always launches interesting new products to the public.
However, this year the new PowerRay drone from PowerVision gives the fishing industry something to think about.
Aerial drones have been all the rage in the fishing community lately, getting killer shots for your YouTube channel and even help map out some underwater structure from the air.
The PowerRay boldly takes the drone where it hasn't gone before...underwater!

Pricing has yet to be finalized, but a company rep said it should be in the $2,000 to $3,000 range.

Launched this week at the annual convention in Las Vegas, the PowerRay is a submersible drone geared toward fishing.
With the ability to dive to depths of up to 98 feet and sonar capability down to 131 feet, this new technology might be the future of advanced fish finding.
It is equipped with an onboard camera and WiFi that can transmit images and data streaming real-time in 1080p, that can be accessed via an iOS or Android app.
It can even be setup to send notifications when fish are located.
All the images are captured with a 100 degree fish-eye lens.
To take the concept to an even more insane level, the PowerRay can even drop a bait in front of the fish and has a blue-tinted light that is intended to attract fish to it.

The PowerRay can go down to depths of 30 meters, and is attached to a controller via a 90-meter cable, which you spool out as the drone swims around.

Not enough craziness?
You can also control the PowerRay with VR technology using the PowerVision VR goggles allowing you to make the drone go where you want by simply tilting your head!
The unit weighs about 7.7 pounds and has a battery life of around 4 hours.
PowerVision has announced that it will begin taking orders on February 27, 2017.
Will the PowerRay be the next "big thing" for anglers to locate fish? Should tournaments ban them? Would you use it as a tool to prefish for tournaments?
One thing is for sure, fishing technology is not showing signs of slowing down anytime soon.
